Informational Articals - VOIP - VOIP Providers
When it comes to VOIP providers you don’t have as many options as you do for cell phone providers. However you don’t need to worry because with the demand of VOIP phones out there it is only a matter of time before more providers join in to take advantage of the market that is available. The current providers of VOIP phones offer you three different types of service to take advantage of. This is only the beginning of what is sure to be coming in the near future though.
The Analog Telephone Adaptor, known as ATA, is the easiest type of VOIP to operate. With this option you can use any standard type of phone and attach it to your computer. As long as you have an high speed internet connection it will work fine so you don’t have to purchase a new phone.
The analog signal is then transferred into digital data that is then transferred via the internet. Depending on the computer operating system you are working with you many need to download some free software in order to access the VOIP connection.
IP Phones look just like a traditional phone but the way in which they operate is very different. They use a Ethernet connection that you place into your router. You can use this type of VOIP phone to make calls from any Wi-Fi location.
The other option you have for using VOIP is the computer to computer option. You will need to access software to make this possible. Some providers offer the software program for free while others offer it for a minimal charge. You will also need to make sure you have a microphone, speakers, and a sound card. There is no charge for calls that take place from computer to computer so you will only pay for your internet connection.
Many providers of VOIP such as AT&T are selling the VOIP service as a bundle so that more people will take advantage of it. Since it is already a cheap phone option it is nice to know you can save even more when you use them for both your VOIP and your internet service. You can be sure the compatibility will be better than ever with one provider offering you both services.
