There are plenty of different causes of stress out there that affect individuals. Since we all have different lives then it is understandable why the triggers for stress are different as well as the levels of stress any one of us is suffering from at any given time. There are some common stress triggers though that seem to frequently affect individuals from all walks of life.
Many people feel stress when they are dealing with negative emotions that drain their energy. These can be from relationships that aren’t going well, feeling threatened by another person or situation, financial difficulties, and feeling overwhelmed by the number of responsibilities to take care of on a daily basis. It can be stressful to realize that you have overcommitted yourself to various things and now you are struggling to keep those commitments.
Relationships seem to be a large cause of stress because of the amount of emotional energy we put into them. It is when a relationship is unpredictable or is no longer there that stress becomes such a large factor. Work hard to have a good communication system with your friends, family, and co-workers so that you can reduce the amount of stress that takes place in such relationships.
Sometimes a person can experience stress even though the enjoy the events that are taking place. Getting married can be stressful just as having a new baby to take care of can. Both are wonderful experiences but they come with a great deal of stress attached to them. Starting a new job, going back to school, or moving to a new town can all create feelings of stress.
Most people have experienced stress in their work environment at one time or another. For some though the stress never seems to go away. It could be that they expect too much out of themselves or their employer does. Either way it can create plenty of problems in the work place and even affect productivity.
Chronic stress is very serious because it will eat away at every aspect of a person’s life. They will find it difficult to enjoy any relationship or event. It can lead to depression and turning to self medicating with alcohol or drugs in order to cope with the stress. There are plenty of positive ways to deal with stress instead of turning to such drastic measures.
