All of use experience levels of stress at one time or another in our lives. It can be healthy and serve as a motivator for someone who wants to resolve their stress. For example a student who is stressed out over an upcoming test knows the only way to resolve that stress in a positive way is to study for it well in advance so they are as prepared as possible for the day of the test.
Stress can completely consume individuals if they don’t learn ways to take care of it. Chronic stress can be caused by lifestyle choices, financial issues, your career, and your relationships. Identifying the triggers of stress is important if you are trying to make changes in your life for the better. Too much stress means your life is full of extreme ups and downs that drain your energy.
Too much stress can take a toll on a person both physically and mentally. Individuals who are stressed out often don’t eat healthy and they don’t get enough sleep. Even when the rest for 8 or more hours they just don’t get to sleep deeply during that period of time because they are too focused on their issues. Stress can cause a person to be short tempered, have a hard time concentrating, and affect their short term memory.
Stress that is not dealt with continues to esculate until it completely consumes the individual. It can ruin their relationships on a personal and professional level. It can also cause depression because it seems like the cycle will never end. There are some positive ways to reduce the amount of stress in your life though. Take the time to address the situation with some different options. If you ignore the triggers of your stress it will still be there under the surface.
Stress is hard to measure because it affects everyone differently. Two individuals may have the same workload and one person is stressed out over it while another isn’t. Two women may be hosting a dinner party and one is completely stressed out about it while the other enjoys every moment of it. This is why the various stress relievers don’t work the same for different people either.
