It is said that the North Pole is a very isolated and desolate location on the Earth. Due to the severe cold weather very little grows there and it would be almost impossible for people to live there. Polar bears do seem to find it a perfect location for them though. It is believed there is more than fifty feet of ice on the surface of the North Pole.
One fascinating aspect of the North Pole is that is goes through times when there is 24 hours of light and then 24 hours of darkness. It is also interesting that the North Pole does not belong to any one country. All five of the surrounding countries are limited to any activity within 200 miles of it. Some people have traveled their as part of various tours for the holidays. This is because someone special is said to live there.
The North Pole is said to be the magical place where Santa Claus lives with his wife and reindeer. This is also the location where the elves work and create the various toys for Santa to deliver for the good boys and girls on Christmas. The North Pole is said to be very cold and far, far away. It is featured in many books and movies as a very fun and happy place to be.
If you take a look on the internet you will find wonderful layouts about Santa’s Village at the North Pole. These sites offer plenty of entertainment for children of all ages including games and learning activities. They can even send their letters to Santa online instead of through the mail.
The magic and the mystery that surrounds Santa Claus is alive and well. If there is such a jolly man out there then the North Pole is the perfect place for him to reside. It is away from the political aspects of any country, and very few people travel there. For those of you who can’t go to the North Pole there are a variety of ways you can have a letter sent to your child for Christmas that is postmarked from the North Pole.
