Informational Articals - Santa Claus
There are many different types of fictional characters that appear in our society. Most of them have an attachment to a particular holiday that we celebrate. Santa Claus is a known character associated with Christmas. He is portrayed as a jolly old man wearing a read suit with white trim and black boots. He also has white hair and a long white beard. You may have seen all sorts of different Santa’s around the holiday season. They are often displayed in department stores for children to take pictures with and they can be found collecting money for various charity events.
Santa Claus is said to live at the North Pole where he is able to check the list of children who have been good and those who have been bad. This is where the elves live as well working all year long to make a variety of toys for the big day. The reindeer that faithfully pull Santa’s sleigh also stay here. It is their magical presence as well as the sleigh Santa rides in that allow them to go all around the world in a single night.
Santa Claus is able to get in and out of the house without being detected as he leaves gifts for the children. Don’t worry if you don’t have a chimney because Santa carries a magic key. It is traditional for children all over the world to leave a variety of snacks and drinks for Santa and the reindeer to enjoy.
As children get older though the magical image of Santa Claus fades away. They may have been told by their parents that he doesn’t exist or they may have found out by other children at school. Sometimes it is catching their parents with a particular gift or wrapping paper that gives it away.
However most children seem to adjust to it quite well. The rule at my house is if you say you don’t believe if Santa you don’t get a gift from him! That seems to take care of the issue and prevent older children from spoiling the magic for the younger ones. Many families have traditions that involve Santa Claus that are among the best memories adults have of their own childhood.
