On some of the more advanced lamp projectors that use high pressure mercury you will be able to tell when the bulb is about to go out. It will be dimmer than usual and the images won’t be as clear.

Others don’t want to deal with the bulb burning out during a crucial point of a meeting or a presentation so they change it every few months for maintenance purposes.
Some lamp projectors have a counter on them that calculates the number of hours it has been in use. You can decide to replace the bulbs after a set amount of hours of use instead of the calendar time that as passed by if you choose. There are models of lamp projectors that claim the bulb will last 1,000 hours. More advanced models are claiming 2,000 hours while the newest models are claiming the bulbs can last up to 4,000 hours.
There is no right or wrong decision to make here so it really depends on what your individual preference is. Lamp projectors are very lightweight and economical so you can take them with you most anywhere you need to. Many businessmen prefer to travel with a lamp projector instead of a digital one because they are lighter. They are also less expensive to replace should the projector get lost or broken. Lamp projectors are a great way to be able to share the information you have with others easily and effectively.
