There are plenty of different reasons whey individuals end up experiencing loneliness. It has a great deal to do with their self esteem, their relationships, and how they view society as a whole. Loneliness can be an emotion and a feeling that some experiences their entire life or it can be the result of a particular situation that triggers it. This is why loneliness can last for short periods of time or completely consume an individual.
Situational loneliness is the number one cause of it. There are so many ways in which we identify ourselves with other people that it is lonely when that bond is broken. You may experience it when a close friend or family member dies, your children leave home, or if you are in a relationship that has become emotionally detached. Moving for work or other reasons can live you missing the area you were in as well as the people you regularly interacted with there.
Many individuals suffer from loneliness because their basic needs were not met as they were going through life. This has left them with a hunger for attention and love but they often struggle to find it. They determine their own self worth by the quality of those relationships. However they often look for them in the wrong places and that further enforces those feelings of loneliness.
A person’s self esteem at different stages in their life is going to determine if they suffer from loneliness or not. Some individuals aren’t ever able to trust others so they sabotage relationships without even realizing it. They don’t ever all someone to get close to them and therefore they remain lonely.
For other individuals loneliness is the result of physical or mental illnesses that prevent them from being a member of society on a social level. Even individuals who suffer from chronic migraine headaches suffer from loneliness because it prevents them from engaging in activities. Depression can be caused from a variety of different issues but it often results in loneliness because the person withdraws from people and activities.
It is important to seek professional help to assist you with overcoming feelings of loneliness if they persist. The sooner you seek help for these types of draining emotions the easier it will be for you to recover from it. There is simply too much offered in life to continue suffering from loneliness in silence.
