A hall of fame is a category used to recognize those who have excelled in a particular area. This can be on a local level such as for high school sporting teams or academics. Most people associate the hall of fame concept with professionals though because of the amount of publicity that surrounds the induction ceremonies in these areas.

Professional sports including baseball and football both have a hall of fame for their outstanding athletes. These individuals are chosen based on their performances on the field as well as major contributions to the sports in general. There are very few women who have been introduced to the hall of fame in these professional sports. The nomination process is as far as many professional baseball and football players get though because there are a very low number of individuals actually in the hall of fame.

Music has been an icon of all generations so it is only fitting that there is a rock and roll hall of fame as well. For artists to be honored for their hard work they can only be nominated after 25 years have passed since their first album release. This 25 year rule does not apply to industry executives and songwriters that may be nominated for their contributions to the world of music.

Those individuals who have been honored by various hall of fame awards should be very proud of their accomplishments. There are so many people to compete with that standing out from the crowd is definitely worth noticing. On a professional level the memorabilia of those initiated into a hall of fame are worth more after that induction has taken place.

Since the number of people being introduced into any given hall of fame are quite limited the media attention that surrounds the nominations and the induction ceremonies is quite elaborate. Since the general public doesn’t get to vote on who is nominated or inducted into these various hall of fame categories though there is often a great deal of controversy surrounding why someone was inducted over others they feel many have contributed more. This definitely makes for some exciting conversations around the office water cooler!
