The Persian Gulf is one of the most significant in regards to oil products reaching their destination. The majority of petroleum that is transported around the world starts out in the Persian Gulf located between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The largest gulf in the world is the Gulf of Mexico, and 1/8 of the world’s oil is extracted from this area. More than 55,000 employees work along the Gulf of Mexico extracting oil from the waters. More than two million barrels of oil come from this resource annually.

The majority of gulf oil is continually extracted by large corporations who continue to monopolize the market of available oil. Since many gulf regions are outside of the United States including the Persian Gulf, the United States is more and more dependent on the oil that is shipped from them. This is due to the large demand of people in this country to have an unlimited supply of it.

The concept of extracting oil from gulf regions has been in place since 1901. The concept was initiated by a group of investors who wanted to be able to benefit from extracting the oil and then selling it. To help make the process of getting the oil back to shore easier the concept of using pipelines was introduced. As a result more than 100,000 barrels of oil were being extracted daily by 1927.

Today there are many different gulf oil companies all working to produce the most oil the fastest and at the cheapest rate. Ironically though the prices that oil is sold for are the same across the board, providing a monopoly for the oil companies to get rich from. You may be surprised to find that when you purchase fuel at a gas station only about two cents per gallon goes into their own pocket as profit.

There is more testing and observation of various gulf oil companies today than in the past. Safety precautions are put into place to prevent the occurrences of oil spills into the water. The effects of this happening are too magnificent for it to be a regular occurrence. The pipelines are continually monitored for leaks so that they can be quickly resolved without spilling very much oil.
