Sleeping beauty is the timeless fairy tale about the beautiful princess Aurora. When she was a baby there was a huge party for her held at the castle. However one fairy was mistakenly forgotten from the invitations. As a result she showed up at the party with a gift for the princess – a terrible curse. She told the king and queen that the young princess would prick her finger on a spindle on her 16th birthday and as a result she would sleep for a hundred years.

The king and queen were so upset that they ordered all of the spindles to be removed from the entire kingdom. However they were still with heavy hearts and so they made the decision to have princess Aurora raised by three wonderful fairies in the wilderness. To help ensure the evil fairy didn’t suspect anything they agreed to stop using their magic. The years went by quickly and the princess blossomed into a beautiful young woman. As her 16th birthday approached they felt relieved as the curse would not be fulfilled.

However the wicked fairy learned of this and pretended to be an old woman needing help with her spindle. The kind nature of princess Aurora encouraged her to prick her finger and she quickly fell asleep. The evil fairy laughed as she locked princess Aurora in her castle to serve out her 100 year sentence. The pain the king and queen felt at this time was unbearable as they thought they would one day reunite with their beloved daughter.

Princess Aurora had an admirer though, a handsome prince whom she met in the forest. He approached her because of her delightful singing and he immediately fell in love with her. Learning on the fate of princess Aurora the princess bravely went to the castle to battle the evil fairy and her army.

He was successful and he went up the stairs to the room where she was sleeping, kissed her, and returned her to the castle of her parents. It wasn’t long before they were celebrating a royal wedding for the princess and princess. As the story goes they went on to live happily ever after.
