Informational Articals - Easter Eggs
Easter is well celebrated holiday and one of the traditions associated with it is the coloring of Easter eggs. This process involves boiling raw eggs in their shell until they are completely cooked. This generally takes about 30 minutes to complete. It is important to remove the eggs from the hot water and allow them to completely cool at room temperature before you color them. Doing so too soon will result in the egg shells cracking.
Using a variety of different colored tablets mixed with a solution of water and vinegar you will have vibrant colors for your Easter eggs. There is plenty of room to be creative with this process so don’t limit yourself to just one color. Writing on the egg with wax before you dip it in a color will result in that area not being colored. White crayons work very well for this process. You can draw pictures, make faces, or write your name on Easter eggs this way.
Using dyes can be messy though, especially with smaller children. There are some other alternatives that are easier. You can provide markers and stickers for the Easter eggs to be decorated with. Make sure you refrigerate all of the eggs after you have decorated them so they don’t spoil. It is traditional to color them the night before Easter and then to hide them in the yard the next morning.
Most children love the thrill of hunting Easter eggs and you may find yourself hiding them over and over again for their enjoyment. Any of the eggs that get damaged in the process should be discarded. To avoid wasting the colored eggs after the hunting has been completed you can use them to make a delicious appetizer.
Deviled eggs are a very tasty treat that allows you to use the insides of the eggs. Simply remove the colored shells and scoop the hard yolk out of the middle of the egg. You want to leave the egg whites alone. Place the egg whites around a decorative platter. You will mix the yolks with onion, mayonnaise, mustard, and any other ingredients you wish to add. Spoon this mixture into the egg whites and sprinkle the tops with paprika. This is a great was to get everyone’s appetite ready for the wonderful Easter dinner.
