A commercial solicitor is one that works on behalf of a legitimate business entity. It is common for commercial solicitors to employ a variety of methods in order to get the attention of potential buyers. For example they may hand out fliers in parking lots or place them on your car. Sometimes they even place them on your door.
This is often a good way to encourage the person to read over the information and then contact the company. About a year ago I came home and found a solicitation on my door for having water delivered to my home. I was able to read over the information and decide if it was a good deal for me. I decided to contact them and get it started but if they hadn’t solicitated the information I wouldn’t have contacted them on my own.
Most commercial solicitors mix basic marketing skills and techniques with their solicitations. This is done to encourage the potential buyer to take action now. They don’t want you to forget about it or simply never make time for it. Back to my water example for a moment – the offer came with a special that had a limited time on it. This was to encourage me to get the water delivery started immediately.
Many businesses know from past experience that happy customers will likely buy from you again in the future. While they are always looking for new customers they also are aware there if they solicit to their current customers they can generate sales. You will likely get phone calls, visits, e-mails, and even letters from businesses you already have made a purchase from to entice you to make a new purchase or to commit to an upgrade.
It is common for businesses who want to use solicitation for their business to hire a company that specifically deals in this area. This is simply paying for a different type of marketing technique. The business is better off doing this though because a professional solicitor business knows what they can legally do and not do in a particular area. They also know what works well with customers to encourage them to make that purchase.
