Boredom Articles - Yawns

Nothing seems to be more catching than a yawn. People do it when they are tired, bored or just because they see someone else do it. Yawns can be like a chain reaction if you have a room full of people. Animals yawn too including dogs, cats, and apes. Yawning is frequently an action that takes place along with stretching. It can help you feel better instantly because the action gets your blood circulating.

Yawning is a natural reflex that is hard to keep under control if you are tired or you aren’t being stimulated in the environment you are in. Many of us have felt bad for yawning in a seminar or even in Church but hard as we try it is just too hard to contain it.

Ironically we know that everyone does it but the exact cost of it is still unknown. Many experts believe the body yawns in response to a lack of oxygen getting to the brain at a given time. A yawn is a response to get the oxygen flowing as it should once again. While most people claim they yawn when they are tired many people find they do it throughout the day even when they are sufficiently rested.

Another thought on the subject is that yawns result from too much carbon dioxide being in the blood. This is detected by the brain and the body’s response it to yawn so that a large amount of oxygen can be inhaled and passed into the bloodstream. There isn’t much research to verify this particular claim though.

There is research that indicates yawing can help to regulate your body temperature. It is a reaction that triggers your brain to know you need something. That could be sleep, a change in your posture, a change in temperature, or even a change in the information or the event that you are being exposed to.

For most people yawning is simply a common action. However if you chronically yawn it may be a sign of a serious medical condition. Some ailments that have yawning as a symptom include multiple scoliosis, migraine headaches, brain tumors, and radiation poisoning. You need to see a doctor immediately if you notice a change in your yawning habits.
