Spending time outside is a great way to enjoy nature as well as to get exercise. Most of us work indoors so being out in the open is a nice change. Statistics show that children and adults spend less time outside that ever before.

This is due to the technology available now including video games and the internet. It is a good idea to get outdoors though and get away from such indoor activities. Everyone needs to exercise and sitting on the couch or in front of your computer just isn’t going to take care of that need.

There are so many great outdoor activities to choose from that you should never be bored with your options. If you dread what you will be doing outside then you aren’t going to be motivated to do it. Sports are always a good way to enjoy being outdoors. A game of football or basketball is something the entire family can enjoy. It also won’t seem like exercise but it actually is.

Children take their cues from parents so you are willing to go outside and get involved they will as well. Of course outdoor activity isn’t always fun, sometimes it is necessary. The whole family can help with keeping the lawn and the garden looking well though.

Walking or jogging is a great one on one activity you can do outdoors. If you want some company ask a friend to join you. Listening to music while you walk is also a great way to relax. You will get involved in your music and maybe walk a couple of extra blocks.

Some outdoor activities can only be done in certain types of weather though. Skiing is an excellent way to get over winter blues. Even going out into your yard for a snowball fight can be fun. Make sure you dress for the weather though.

Take some time to rearrange your schedule and make some positive lifestyle changes. Outdoor activities will help you to relieve stress, enjoy what nature has to offer, and to get the exercise you need. Take 30 minutes out of your day from the indoor activities and you will find you actually look forward to it.

Many people avoid outdoor activities because they don’t have the energy. However getting outside and moving around will actually increase your mood and your level of energy. You may be surprised at the wonderful changes some outdoor time will bring for you.
